Seasons Greetings

All is well this christmas at the Anoeta. The only dissapointment was missing out on top spot over the christmas break after losing 2-1 away to Salamanca and Las Palmas winning 7-1 meant they are top on 40 points with sociedad 1 point further back on 39.
In pre-season I only brought 1 player to the club which was Razvan Rat the left back on a seasons long loan from Shakthar. This is the only player I brought in because of only having 80k to spend and spending to much money on wages. I was not able to sell anyone to try and raise funds which limited the players joining the club.
In the end it do not make too much difference as you could tell reading the first few lines of the blog I am 1 point off the top of the league. My best results have been winning at home to Celta 3-0 coming from behind against Zaragoza to win 2-1 at home. As well as beating Alicante 4-3 away from the Anoeta. This was one of the best because I was 2-0 down at half time and when I got it back to 2-2 Alicante immediatley went up the field and put them ahead. Sergio Rodriguez made it 3-3 with a curling stike 30 yards out straight into the top corner. Necati Ates scored the winner in the 85th minute

In the Copa Del Rey things are also looking very good making my way into the 5th round starting off with a 1-0 away win against Celta Vigo. In the 3rd round was a home tie against Gimnastic which finished 2-0. The biggest test came in the 4th round where the competition turns into a 2 legged affair. I was draw against La Liga side Recreativo who I managed to defeat by 2 goals to nil at the anoeta. Despite a 1-0 defeat in the second leg I managed to comfortably make it to a 5th round tie against Villareal. I do not hold too much hope for that game but you never know what could happen in Cup games.

My squad is hopefully going to be strenghtend after being able to raise money by selling the right back Carlos Martinez to PSV for 2.2 million. Landon Donovan has already joined the club after his contract ended in December which lead to Necati Ates ending his loan spell early after not impressing me. It also helped that he was getting paid £15,500 a week which is a ridiculous amount of money in my opinion.

Great update, I've just started, but I'm doing more transfers than you, I've sold about 4 millions worth, trying to save cash as if I go up then I will need to spend!Posted 21-11-2008 at 08:50 PM by Jack F
