I have looked at the thread and established the members in the above table are actively taking part in the challenge. If you decide to take on the challenge i will add you to the table in due course. Points will only be added if a screenshot can be provided. I realise many more people have tried the challenge but if you failed to win anything or were sacked their is no point in keeping your name in the table taking up space!!

I have created this thread for members who are taking on this challenge to post their progress and i will also post here as well as on my blog.

From the start i immediatley established i was lacking in the left back department so brought in a loan signing - Ravzan Rat from Shaktar. Next target was a striker as i felt if any of my current strikers got an injury, the backup was very poor and not ready for the big time yet. Out of curiosity i typed "Kovacevic" in the search box not really expecting Darko to be available from Olympiakos. To my amazement he was and for a knockdown 300k! Having sold one of my deadwood Markel to Reading for 1.4 million i snapped up Darko Kovacevic and had my first punch the air moment on FM2009! He has been by far my favourite player on the Football Manager/Championship Manager series of games and to have him again will make the game even more enjoyable - especially since he is still really good!! We have already had a minor disagreement however when i suggested he should try and place his shots in future (just wanted to see what he would say).

For my first friendly i chose to watch the 3D action and was really impressed! We won 7-0 and every goal was completely different. It did slow my computer down slightly so will watch in 2D from now on but watch the goal replays in 3D i think. The highlight of the friendlies was an 11-0 victory!

I played the first league game of the season at home to Huelga and managed a 1-0 victory although we created plenty chances and should have scored more.

As usual i will be trying my hardest to turn (the now 16 year old) Kenan Kodro into a superstar and will post my progress on that throughout the challenge.

Overall i'm quietly confident i can steer the club to promotion and i've decided i'm not gonna play any elaborate tactics, just a simple 4-4-2 just now.

Cheers Vamos yeh i'm into November now and Zaragoza doing well in 2nd place. Its Elche?!?!? who are top though and shocking everyone. I play them away next in a must win game. If they beat me i'm gonna really struggle to get promoted i think.

Here you are Kova, so we both have our challenge in the same forum, I have to say I'm in good company!

Sooner or later I'll have a run with your challenge.

I was thinking to give points for every achievement reached in my challenge, as you did, but then I choose another road: I prefer success or failure, no way out!

Good luck mate...

Ha ha class Paine. The points system if i'm being honest is for people like me who will never win the league in 5 seasons. At least if i win the Spanish Cup or something i can look at how many points i have and try to convince myself it was a success! I will at some point be going the mighty Plymouth though. I'm waiting to see how you get on so i know what i have to beat.

For those who don't know here is the points system :-

2nd Division Champs = 20 points
1st Division Champs = 100 points
1st Division Runners Up = 50 points
1st Division 3rd Place = 25 points
Spanish cup = 50 points
Spanish Super Cup = 25 points
European cup = 150 points
UEFA cup = 75 points
European Super Cup = 25 points

Ok taken the Sociedad job and enjoying the challenge. Played 7 friendlies won 6 drew 1, so optimistic for the season ahead(although the teams i beat were pretty poor).Just about to play my first league game. Got the squad fit and ready to go. Only signed back up keeper in toni prats but 3 loan signings in D.Tristan,D.Kovacevic and leonardo from ajax. Still looking for a dominant cd before the window shuts. With my limited budget this will have to do for now. sold Zubikarai & Gabilondo. Looking at my squad i have decided to play 4 at the back with a def mid. then 2 mid 2 wingers and striker. playing this system simply because of the players i've got. will let u know how i go a couple of months into the season.

It was a dramatic end to the season Magik with it decided on the final game of the season. Malaga and Sporting Gijon each started the day two points ahead of Sociedad and ensured their promotions with wins over Tenerife and Eibar respectively.

Sociedad, meanwhile, could only draw 1-1 with Cordoba. Hearbreak city!

Numancia finished as champions having already sealed promotion.

Thanks mate. Important info.
Will update SOMS with that later on.
Everyone when they are doing this i recomend looking at Celtic and Rangers youth teams in the second season. There are some brilliant youngesters apparently that join next to anyclub I'm told. And apparently they turn into superstars

Great advice Magik. I already have Steven Lennon and John Fleck on my radar from Rangers. I haven't looked at Celtic yet though.
