United take title in a dramatic final day

Rooney claims title for united

Wayne Rooney's 1st minute goal was enough to announce Manchester United as The Premiership champions for the third successive season. UNited controlled a lacklustre West Ham UNited and quckly took the lead after leaidn ggoalscorer Tevez put Wayne Rooney through on goal. United knew anything but a win would announce Liverpool as champions for the first time in 15 years after their 10 men crushed Arsenal 4-0.
Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say,
" In the end it wasn't the season the fans had backed us for but at the end of the day we beat liverpool to the title and to any United fan out there that will be enough for now.
It wasn't the season United had hoped for only managing to win the euro super cup, Club world championship, community shiled and the Premiership. Although considered anough for now another season without more major trophies could spell the end of Sir alex's career

Rooney and captain ferdinand celebrate Premiership victory

Many are tipping Liverpool to succed next season under new manager Dom Jolly who already has wins over Chelsea,Man city and Arsenal under his belt.

Alonso can go
Dom Jolly 'renews' squad

Liverpool manager Dom Jolly has today told journalists that he is prepared to let liverpools devoted servant Xabi Alonso leave the club. Jolly, who has already made 11 signings, has said Alonso has attracted alot of interest from his time at liverpool and if Liverpool are to return to the top of the world changes would need to be made. Surprisingly though tha manager then told journalists he is not going to sell young liverpool midfielder Lauri Dalla Valle. Liverpool fans arn't ahppy with this statement many believeing the likes of benatoun and dossena should be sold long before Xabi alonso. Alonso, who is a fan favourite amongst the fans, could not be reached for a comment

In other news Manchester United have completed the signings of Gareth Barry and Glen Johnson for an undisclosed fee.

Liverppol off to a winning start

Liverpool welcome Barnsley to the premier league

Liverpool 2-0 Barnsley
Premier League - 15.8.2009
Barnsley could only watch as Liverpools new superstars put on a show for all the liverpol faithful. Dom Jolly handed League debuts to 5 players and many fans believed that the team would find it hard to gel.

Liverpool controlled the early stages though and after Torres was brought down in the area by Andy Iro he cooly converted the penalty to make it 1-0. Liverpool threw everything at Barnsley who seemed quite happy to leave with a 1-0 defeat.

Eventually Liverpool found the second goal in the form of debutant Dani Aqunio, who's late run into the box was complemented by Matas perfect through ball. Aquino was on point to finish and he looked delighted.
"It was good for us to start the season with a win, i'm delighted for Aquino to get his goal but now we need to focus on Reading"

Liverpool(4-2-3-1): Reina:Azpilicueta,Arbeloa,Agger,Leo:Capoue(45 Capoue),Mascherano,Young,Mata(12 Kuyt),Gerrard:Torres
SUBS NOT USED:Skrtel,Carragher,Jankovic,Alonso,Zarate

Barnsley(3-2-3-2):Muller:Iro,Moore,Souza:Nosworty,Williams:Silva(72 Grundy),Colace,Moussa:Hume(79 Odejayi),Daly(62 Bogdanovic) SUBS NOT USED:Steele,Morrison,Herd,El Haimour

Goalscorers
Liverpool: Torres pen 35, Aqunio 71
Barnsley: none

Man of the Match: Dani Aqunio 7.4 out of 10
Attendance:

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was sent of today as Chelsea taught liverpool a lesson at Anfield.

Dom Jolly had this to say
"the result today was a blow for out title hopes, i know it's only the 3rd game but looking at the way chelsea dominated us in front of our home fans today was embarrising and any more performances like that will cost us the title"
It is though Gerrard will face a 3 match ban after the england internantional caught Lampard late with a two-footed tackle.
