Devasted: Middlesbrough fans after their teams recent relegation from the Premiership
Middlesbrough fans got what they wanted at the end of the season as manager, Gareth Southgate stepped down as the club's boss after his club's recent relegation from the Premiership. Many fans have stated that they are pleased that Southgate finally saw that he had to step down as the gaffa at Middlesbrough. Media such as The Sun have already been naming possible candidates for the job but nothing has been released by Steve Gibson as of yet. We did catch up with him and we asked him if Southgate had said anything after his walk away from the club. In the interview he told us:

Quote:
Southgate left because he felt he owed it to the fans after a bitterly disappointing season. Of course I would have liked him to stay but he had ade his mind up and I could see that I wasn't going to change it. Me and Southgate had a lengthy chat about whether he felt he had a career as a coachat the club but he was determined to continue his managerial path elsewhere.

As for the new manager, I am currently talking to a host of possible candidates for the job and as soon as the manager is decided the fans will be invited to meet him at the Riverside Stadium. I am confident that we will find a manager that is worthy enough of taking us straight back up to the Premiership and I am sure that the players will perform extremely well in order to achieve this. Stewart Downing left for Aston Villa but vowed that he will be back at Middlesbrough before his career is over and we want to say that he is welcome back at any time.
The Sun named a few names for the job and the bookies gave us odds on the choices that the tabloid newspaper had chosen. Here is a list of who they think will be most likely to get the new job:

Juninho Paulista 6/1
Colin Cooper 6/1
Tom Hickton 8/1
Bernie Slaven 12/1
Alan Pardew 15/2

A new manager should be confirmed very soon!

Final Goodbye: Has Southgate really gone forever?

New Era: Thousands of Middlesbrough fans flow into the stadium to see who the new manager is.
Thousands of Boro fans packed the Riverside Stadium when Steve Gibson said that the new manager would be revealed. After days of talking with several candidates they finally found their man. Gibson told us that he felt that the new man would help Middlesbrough back into the Premiership and that the fans would love him from the off. The Middlesbrough fans cheered when Steve Gibson walked out onto the pitch and greeted the fans who had came. This is what he said.

Quote:
Hello and thank you for coming down to the Riverside today and I'm sure you all know why I have called this "meeting". Well me and the board have been talking with several candidates for the currently vacant spot of manager at the club after Southgate's resignation. I am fairly confident that the new manager, although having a lack of management experience can guide us to the top. Now this man has already, I feel made himself a legend at the club having played here before.

Without further ado I present the new manager of Middlesbrough Football Club...Juninho!
The fans burst into cheers and many of them shed tears of joy. Juninho stepped out onto the pitch and shoke hands with Steve Gibson before waving to the fans and returning back through the tunnel. Now there was only one question to ask, would Juninho lead them to Premiership football next season? One fan said this:

Quote:
I think that Juninho will not only lead us to promotion but I think he will get us our first league title in the history of the club. I think it was a proper mint choice and I am buzzing that he got chosen for to be the gaffa.

Legend: Will Juninho make the same impact that he did as a player?

Talking Large: Juninho talked about his plans for Middlesbrough FC in a press conference.
Juninho was joined by media sources at the Riverside Stadium earlier for a press conference on his new appointment as Middlesbrough boss. He talked about his plans in for the club and told us what he planed to do with the club.

The conference started with FourFourTwo.com asking him if his appointment as manager of a club he loved was a dream come true. Juninho replied by saying "That's definately true in my eyes, I was here as a player before and now I am here as the boss. I am looking forward to kick starting the new campaign and I'm sure the fans are too." He was then asked if he felt that Middlesbrough could bounce back up to the Premiersjip at the first time of asking. Juninho's reply was "There's a very good chance of that happening. I really do think we have a chance of winning the league this season, it will certainly be a fight to the death between us and Newcastle I would say." The People then asked him what tactics he would be adopting and Juninho told them that he would look for sensible attacking play. BBC Radio 5 asked him what he would bring to the man management side of the game. He replied by telling them that he liiked to make sure the players respected his presence. The next question came from Sportinglife.com, they asked Juninho how invloved he was going to be with the day-to-day running of the club. He replied "I will be involved here and there but my staff will be handling a lot of things." Juninho also told the press that he was on the brink of signing the goalkeeper, Francesc Arnau.

Migrating: Francesc Arnau is almost on his way to Englad from his homeland of Spain.

Middlesbrough FC: Bringing Back the Pride...

Middlesbrough have confirmed their Pre-Season schedule for this years campaign. They start the games off with a game at Lincoln City's Sincil Bank. Then they return home for a tough game against FC Bayern Munich, one which Juninho's men are being predicted as just a 'warm up' for Munich. They then travel up to Scotland to face Inverness CT for their third friendly. Another away game is then played as Juninho and the players go to Bradford, before coming nearer to home as they play Darlington. The final game of this years friendly campaign is played away to Morecambe, one that Middlesbrough really should be winning. This is what Juninho said about the fixtures:

Quote:
We have chosen some easy games for the players so that we can get the morale in the squad quickly rising after the relegation that knocked their spirits down. I feel that they are all easily winnable apart from the Bayern Munich game. All of our players will get a run out in these games and they will feature our new kits which will be released within the next few days.

The New Kits are here!

Today Middlesbrough confirmed their new kits under their new sponsor, Adidas. The kit still features last year's sponsor of Garmin but now are made by Adidas and feature their material, ClimaCool. Middlesbrough felt that the fans would like the new kit and the were looking forward to selling them in the club's shops this season. Here are the prices for the newly designed kits.

Top = Adult (£40), Child (£35)
Shorts = Adult (£20), Child (£15)
Socks = Adult (£9), Child (£8)

One fan siad this about the new kits:

Quote:
I like the new kits, I think the mint like. They are a bit dear like aren't they, especially for somebody on the dole like me. I will buy the new kit but it may mean that I have to get a job!

Middlesbrough FC: Bringing Back the Pride...

Sky Sports have decided to put the Middlesbrough's Friendly against Bayern Munich on the TV. Middlesbrough will now want to get a win in front of possibly millions of viewers to prove they aren't a small club. They will want to prove that they belong in the Premiership and that is where they belong. Now the only question left is, can Middlesbrough perform this season in the League and the Cups? We'll have to wait and find out.

Middlesbrough have drawn Carlisle away in the Round One of the Carling Cup, Juninho will hope that his side can beat the team that almost got relegated from League One last season. Middlesbrough will probably field a weaker side but Juninho has gave no hints as to who he will field for the match.

Lincoln City vs Middlesbrough
Friendly - July 13 2009
Lincoln City (4-4-2): Burch, Green, Kovács, Hone, Heath, Ferreira, Kerr, Butcher, Brown, John-Lewis, Fagan

Subs: Bredice, Bond, Coleman-Carr, Enstone, Fitzpatrick, Miller, Swaibu, Clarke, Oakes, Mullarkey, Roberts, Adams

Middlesbrough (4-4-2): Coyne, McMahon, Wheater, Riggott, Pogatetz, Yeates, O'Neil, Arca, Johnson, Franks, Emnes

Subs: Jones, Hoyte, Grounds, Huth, Bates, Taylor, Digard, Shawky, Smallwood, Walker, Tuncay, Afonso Alves

Referee: Mr Nick Kinseley
Attendance: 2838

Both teams started the game well and the ball was being won by both teams a lot. Possession was switching hands all the time and it took 11 minutes for us to get the first highlight of the game. O'Neil passed to Julio Arca on the left who was in a lot of space. He then played the ball through to Marvin Emnes, who brought the ball forward but shot the ball into the arms of Burch. 5 minutes later there was trouble down the other end when Danny Hone made Coyne work for the ball and push it away. It was turning out to be a magnificent match. Burch saved again on 19 minutes when he beat away Marvin Emnes shot at goal for the second time in the game. Burch was on the form of his life today. A minute later Mark Yeates had a chance as he picked up Franks' excellent ball but thundered the ball off the bar, but it really should have been a goal. Coyne was troubled again on 24 minutes when Fagan's header made Coyne jump and get finger tips on the ball, only to put it out for a corner. On the half an hour mark Mark Yeates had to come off after a challenge from Butcher and he was replaced by Alves, Emnes moved to Yeates' position whilst Alves partnered young Franks in attack. We thought that things were going to be level at half time untill O'Neil's superb curling shot found the top corner of the net. Juninho jumped up with joy in the Middlesbrough bench and the 700 Middlesbrough fans who had travelled to see their team went crazy in the stands. The referee blew his whistle and put an end to a magnificent half.

Half-Time Lincoln City 0-1 Middlesbrough

Boro made 2 changes at the break as Arca came off for Richard Smallwood, and Hoyte replaced McMahon. Just 8 minutes into the second half Middlesbrough doubled their tally with substitute Afonso Alves. Pogatetz played him through and Alves chased the ball well before smahing it past the 'keeper. Adam Johnson almost got a third when he was given the ball in the air and he tried a half volley from just outside the box, but it went to high to trouble Lincoln. Emnes nearly scored his first goal of the match when he smashed the ball just over the bar, it was a very close shot. Boro made another change to ther side as they brought Riggott off for Bates and Tuncay on for Jonathan Franks who had enjoyed a great game. In the 80th minute, Richard Smallwood picked up an injury and had to be brought off for Mohammed Shawky. Shawky nearly scored 3 minutes later as he headed at goal but Burch hung on to the ball nicely.

Full Time Lincoln City 0-2 Middlesbrough

Man of the Match: Gary O'Neil

On the move: Tuncay is reported to be unhappy at Middlesbrough and wants to move to a bigger club.
Middlesbrough star striker, Tuncay Sanli has told the club that he wants to move on to a bigger club and with interest from Galatasaray that could be possible. Juninho has been reported to have told the Turkish club that he will sell him if the price is right, but what is Juninho's price? It is thought he will only let the striker go for a fee of around £5 Million but it is then up to Galatasaray on if they want to remain interest.

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Francesc Arnau for a fee of £750k which was the asking price of his old club. Arnau has told Juninho that he will do all he can to help Middlesbrough back up to the Premier League and then it is up to the club to decide his future on teeside. Arnau is though to be first choice Goalkeeper and he will look to make a lot of appearances for the club in this crucial season.

After consulting with the Middlesbrough physios it has emerged that Mark Yeates sprained his knee ligaments in the match against Lincoln City. The injury will keep him out for between 5 and 6 weeks before he can restart full training. Mark told Middlesbrough | Home that he is extremely sad at missing the opening few games but admitted that he saw it coming when he went down injured.
