Free Transfers in Football Manager 2010 - by Crackfox

Every manager likes a freebie, It's in our nature. The thrill of pulling off the signing of the season without it costing a single penny has, for some, been called better than sex itself. And this year the orgasm just keep on coming.
With top players like Henri Camara, Michael Ball, Sol Campbell and Ebi Smolarek just waiting to be snapped, up the possibilities really are endless for your team

League Football. A long, hard and gruelling season which, for some, will end in heartbreak.
But for others that year of hard work has finally paid off. What's their secret? **** loads of freebies.

Ebi Smolarek - Striker - 28 -

The 28 year old Pole is looking for his 5th club. Havin played previously for Dutch stars Feyenoord, German Giants Dortmund, Spanish Side Racing and even a loan spell at Bolton this lad has seen it all. But unfortunately his reputation follows him everywhere. Known for his bad attitude and greedy nature his chance of making it big time has gone.
But could you change that. Ebi has ability, that's clear for everyone to see. High technique, finishing, first touch and Composure this guy can set the Championship alight with his goal tally.
And if he doesn't? Sell him, he will arrive at your club with a valuation over 1 million, meaning you are good as guarenteed a profit with his sale.

Michael Ball - LB - 29 -

Released this Summer by big spending Manchester City, ball at one point looked a decent premiership defender. But soon the big bucks arrived at Michael was kicked to the curb. Just in time for you to snap him up. Still reasonably young. ball has some very impressive stats right across the board. A team player Michael is still very much a Premiership left back, and with all his experience you won't want to miss out on this one. Be warned though, I'm not the only one to have noticed this lad and the Premiership clubs will come for him. A little extra wage should do the trick though, and trust me he's worth it.

Sol Campbell - CB - 34 -
Probably the most well known Freebie this year. Here of his own accord after he infamously walked out of Nott's County, Sol wil be chased by a lot of teams and for good reason. Experience is everything in league football. You can have the most skilful players in the world but without a steady head in your side, you will crumble. Having won The F.A. Cup on 3 separate occasions, the league cup, community Shield and the Premiership twice experience is one thing you can't say Sol Campbell hasn't got. Chuck his still half decent stats and you have possibly the perfect buy for League 1 or Championship team out there.

Henri Camara - St - 32 -

So following a rather unsuccessful spell at Wigan that Saw Henri go on loan twice and score just 20 goals over the course of 5 seasons Henri camara is now looking for his 12th club in the vast footballing world. Will it be with you????
It bloody should be. Quick, experienced, fantastic with the ball at his feet but even better at putting it into the net this lad is a typical freebie. A drastic fall from grace from a half decent player is what makes managers outside of the premiership cum. Snap this one up ASAP and you won't regret it.

Elliot Omozusi - DRC - 20 -

The youngest of the lot today. Elliot Omozusi was a decent player last year. he would often develop into a solid defender and find his way to a top 10 Premiership club. Well now his stats have been slightly increased and he's available for free. it's rare to find such a promising youngster knocking around with no club but he won't stay around for long so you will have to act fast. Released by Fulham this summer, this young English lad will work hard for any team, is a solid tackler of the ball, outstanding Physically and just 20 years of age if you are only going to make one freebie signing this summer make sure it's this lad. Hell I'd even recommend him to Premiership sides.

*Note - All these players will join most Championship and League 1 sides.*

Some oldies goldies here!

Some good bargains here for a champioship team or a low/average premiership team.

Free Transfers - The One's I Missed

Jorge Andrade - CB - 31
Following an injury cursed time and Juventus where he made just 4 appearances in the year he spent there, the once top defender has found himself without a club, available for all you championship managers out there.
Experienced, talented and still not that old Andrade is more than capable of doing the job for mid table Premiership sides but is more than willing to join 2nd division clubs, as long as he is getting games is he happy. Is injuries, though are the real flaw in his game and probably the only reason he hasn't snapped up in real life. But use him as a back-up and he will do the job for you and prove a top signing. If he doesn't his 2 million valuation should leave you with a nice little profit in the bank.

Lauren - RB - 32
The once top premiership defender has had a drastic fall from grace, despite still possessing the qualities to play premiership football.
Following a 2 year spell at Portsmouth the experienced full back was released this summer. Still with high stats for tackling, work rate and stamina as well as impressive stats for concentration, marking and strength there is no reason this lad can't fit right into most championship/premiership sides

Glauber - CB - 26
Reasonably young, talented and experienced in the premiership this guy may just be the perfect signing for promotion hopeful league 1/championship sides. Impressive defensive stats, not he quickest but how many defenders are. the mental side of his game is the strongest, making him particularly useful for 'squeaky bum time'.

I have a really bad memory about Andrade when he played (not so much to be true...) for my beloved Juventus.

if he stays fit he could be a solid ad experienced defender.

these are for league 1 championship teams like i said in the guide, these players could be the difference, plus signed experience leaves you more money to sign the young'uns

true but at a cost, most older players will most likely want more wages then a younger player

This guide is very helpful. i knew of Sol Campbell but i did not know about Henri Camara who is proving to be a brilliant signings for my Newcastle squad. Sol Campbell is solid and Henri Camara provides the experience needed in the young strike force.
