![]() 20010-2011 End of Season Update Premiership So we came into this season expected to finish 19th but we always knew we could avoid the drop and really stake our claim as a top tier club. I was a roller coaster of a season but we never looked like going down, we would cause massive upsets then drop points to teams like Reading and Nott's Forest. But in the end we managed to gain the top half finish i had promised the fans as we took 9th. From 38 games we won 15, drew 12 and lost 11, a +1 goal difference and a total of 57 points. Highlights Home vs Man United 1-0 Away vs Everton 2-1 Away vs Liverpool 3-3 away vs Chelsea 2-1 Home vs Arsenal 3-0 Home vs Chelsea 2-1 Carling Cup So far we look good to get really far in this cup. We opened up the competition with a 3-1 win over Norwich. We were then rewarded with a 3rd round tie against Sunderland. The game was close and it finished 0-0 aet. Fortunately tough we beat them 3-0 on penalties. The 4th rounds rolled on and Spurs were the opponents, we went a goal down in the 17th minute but within 10 minutes we were ahead 2-1 and went on to win the game. We welcomed our tie against Man City in the 1/4 finals and our optimism was rewarded as we walked away with a 3-0 win. 1st leg of he semi's we're down 3-1 to United but nothings impossible, a 3-0 win though will be very hard. The venue was the Walkers Stadium. The opposition Manchester United. The hurdle and aggregate of 1-3. The score line 4-1. Yes it may have taken extra time but yet again Leicester managed to eliminate Manchester United, goals from Rochina, Saivet Walter and Parejo booked us our place in the final against Aston Villa. To say the final was close would be an understatement, it was one of the most nerve racking games i have experienced. Villa's pace on the break was incredible but our disciplined defense and hard working midfield managed to chop down a lot of their breaks. Chances went by as the clock ticked on and eventually it went to penalties: Feindouno scored Vidal missed our first Bouma scored Parejo missed our second Young scored Walter scored our 3rd Gardner scored Aston Villa won FA Cup Manchester City were our opponents for the FA Cup 3rd round, they were poor all the way through notably though after an injury to their anchorman in midfield Nigel De jong, we went on to win the game 3-0. Dimitar Berbatov was sent off in the 71st minute. Fulham are our next opponents and i'm sure we can come away with a win. Fulham were poor and we managed a 3-0 win. West hame were next and, much like the previous game, provided little opposition, Vidal giving us the victory. Championship side Blackpool were next and surprisingly one of the tougher games but we managed a 2-1 victory. Chelsea in the semi' but we were optimistic. It was another close game but we managed to come away from Wembley with a 1-0 victory thanks again to Vidal. So here it was the final. Liverpool, who had over come united and spurs to get here, were our opponents. It looked like a tough game but when it came to it we were by far the better side and our 2-0 victory wasn't at all flattering. Walter and Vidal gave us the goals and ran the whole show, it was a great game for us and a great achievement to win the FA cup. Overview All in all it was a very good season for us, some great signings, a place in Europe next season and already a trophy under our belts. I want to get top 6 next season and a decent run in the UEFA cup. I'm not too optimistic about regaining our FA cup but i would like to give both domestic cups a good go. We managed to make a profit of 13 million which hopefully will mean a larger budget next season and hopefully a stadium expansion. Player wise there was 3 lads who really stood out. Henri Saivet was great all season and is my player of the year. in 50 games he hit 24 goals (third prem top scorer), 8 assists and 8 MoM. Walter was fantastic this season, a new signing originally for the AMN role but after the arrival of Dzagoev him and Saivet made a formidable partnership upfront. In 46 games Walter managed 20 goals, 13 assists and 5 MoM. Vidal only arrived in January to give us a stronger DM. Appiah was getting old and Zuculini wasn't impressing me enough to prove his was first team status yet. So Vidal came in and in 19(1) games he scored 5 massive goals, 1 assist and 2 MoM. But his job was a defensive minded player and he made nearly 8 tackles per game and completed 76% of his passing. He was solid since arrival and is a really good addition to our squad. ![]() 20011-2012 Pre-season I was very happy with what my squad achieved last season and wanted to keep wanted to keep the winning mentality throughout my starting 11 so i didn't use too much of my 114 million transfer budget. Ben Foster and Omar Benzerga both arrived,i can see them both leaving in the near future though. Lung jr should be challenging Asenjo this season and I'm happy with Vidal and Zuculini in the midfield but they both arrived for free so I'm not losing anything. To bolster my defence i bought in French defender Mamadou Sakho for 27 million. I knew he was quality and that i wouldn't be using all my budget so i was happy to pay so much for him, he is a great addition to our squad and hopefully can bolster our UEFA cup campaign. Left winger Razvan Ochirosii joined from Portsmouth for 15 million and transfer listed Michael Johnson followed him from 2 million. Left winger Juan angel Albin joined from Villlareal for a steal 1.7 million. He should provide more cover for our attacking options being able to play as a left winger, behind the striker or up front. Finally Luigi Vitale came from Napoli for 3.4 million to give Mattock some competition at left back. I decided a clean up of our squad was needed so some deadwood players found the exit door Thiago Alcantara left for Cremonese, Phillipe Christinval joined Grenoble, Jason Brown went to United for 2.1 million, Darron Gibson joined Dinamo for 2.6 million, Max Gradel went to Murcia for 3 million, Tunchev and Kisnorbo both departed for Reading and Livorino for 2 million each. Danny Sturridge also left for Murcia for 3 million. Amr Zaki joined America (mex) on loan whith a cance to make the move permanent. Adrian Gonzalez also joined Portsmouth for 4.9 million Dj Capbell, Lloyd Dyer, Berno Bruner and James Wesolowski all wer released from the club. Over the summer i received job offers from Chelsea, Blackburn, Man City and Bolton but i turned all of them down, maybe once i have made Leicester a European force i will leave but not before. David Luiz has expressed his want to leave after i rejected an offer for him from Manchester United, Savet feel it may be time for him to move on and both Lung jr and Onyewu have attracted interest from other Premiership and top league clubs. My team: Asenjo
