Dom Jolly
2008-2009

Overview
So after completing a season with Leicester City i decided i would start telling you lot about my time with the Foxes.

The first season was much what i wanted, we pissed the league and won the Johnstone's paint trophy, i would have liked to do better in the FA and Carling Cup but we faced Premiership opposition in the early rounds and unsurprisingly went out.

Transfers
I am very pleased with my transfers from the first season. I maanged to get United as my Parent Club and got Darren Gibson and Rafael on loan. I then signed Real Madrid midfielder Daniel Parejo for 5k. Athletico's Madrid transfer listed Keeper Angel Bernabe then joined for 50k. Former Fulham defender Phillipe Chrstanval came for free to bulk up the defence. I returned to raid spain once again and this time came back with Barcelona's Rubin Rochina and
Real Madrids wonderkid Alipio. Stephen Appiah joined for free and Blackburn keeper Jason Brown finally came for 600k.
Chris Powell, Paul Henderson, N'Gotty and Barry Hayles all left the club.

My team of the year:
Brown
Rafael - Tunchev - Kisnorbo - Mattock
Dom - Appiah - Dyer
Parejo
Fryatt - Cristaldo

Transfers

Most of my deals i secured towards the end of last season after Mandaric stuck a bit more dough into my budget.

Thiago Alcantara joined from Mantova for 250k and Omar Koroma came from Pompey for 1.5 million. Wiht Llyod Dyer in my opinion not up to championship material Adrian Gonzalez became a fox for 525k.
With Appiah getting on a bit i decided to sign a replacement sooner rather than later so Argentine Franco Zuculini joined for 3 million. Full back Rafael was attracting a lot of interest so i bought in Barragan from recently relegated Deportivo.
Jonjo Shelvey came for 30k to bring some english blood into my squad, defiantyl one for the future. Mark Beevers was the next englishman to join, he came for 2 million. Ryan Shawcross switched from Stoke to give more cover in defence when i realised my current center back set up wasn't great. Henri Saivet became the clubs record signing when he joined for 9 million, wonder kid Maio came from Milan for free and Kristian Nemeth joined from new Parent club Liverpool on loan.

My starting 11:
Brown
Rafael - Shawcross - Tunchev - Mattock
Jolly - Appiah/Zuculini - Gonzalez
Parejo
Saivet - Cristaldo

Mid-Season Update

Transfers
As well as the transfers i made in January i added Scott Loach to my team for 200k to give us more cover in goal.

Coca-Cola Championship
So far so good, i am currently sitting 2nd in the league, 29 games played 19 wins, 7 draws and just 3 games lost, i am only second on goal difference. Bolton are top with +40, i'm trailing behind with +29. But i am happy so far, i will take second very happily especially behind League favorites Bolton, so far so good.

Highlights
Home vs Stoke 4-1
Away vs Cardiff 2-1
Away vs Barnsley 5-2

Carling Cup
We beat Grimsby 3-0 at home in the 1st round but went crashing out to Stoke after losing 0-1 at home, this was disappointing as we went on to do the double over Stoke in the league.

FA Cup
After going out of the Carling cup i wanted to win this trophy, optimistic yes but possible.
We came up against Crystal Palace in the 3rd round of the competiton and managed to progress with a 2-0 win. The next game was against Manchester United, a tough tie but in front of our own fans anything was possible. We came away with an incredible 3-0 win and will now face Sunderland in the 5th round, I'm feeling optimistic after the thrashing we handed United.

End of Season Update

Coca-Cola Championship
Well it was a two horse race between us and Bolton. Bolton, who were fully expected to win the league comfortably had been surprised by Championship new boys Leicester.

In the end we finished 2nd behind the dominant Bolton. They ended up winning it by 11 points after we hit a ruck in form towards the end of the season. We played 46 games, won 29, drew 9 and lost 8 so not a bad season at all.

Highlights
Home vs Stoke 4-1
Away vs Cardiff 2-1
Away vs Barnsley 5-2

Carling Cup

After overcoming a massive hurdle i was optimistic for the Sunderland game but unfortunately they gave us everything they add and trounced us 0-3.

Transfers

So i got my transfer going with forward Amr Zaki, he would bolster up our attacking force plus he had experience in the premiership. He arrived for free.
Wonder winger Dragos Paslaru then joined from Rangers for 2.5 million, he has a big future ahead of him and is already at a good premiership standard. The defence was my next priority so experienced center back Joseph Yobo joined from everton for 9 million. Young Keeper Silviu lung jr then joined from Sparta Praque, he has massive potential and can be one of the best keepers in the world easily. Still not confident in my defense i bought in Onyewu and David Luiz from Standard and Benfica respectively. Spansih Keeper Sergio Asenjo then joined to help support our survival in the premiership, he will take the no.1 jersey and be a key player this year. Finally young Brazilian Walter arrived from Internacional for 8 million.

Nicky Adams joined QPR for 990k and Matty Fryatt and Koroma both left for Huddersfield and Pkymoth on loan.

My starting 11:
Asenjo
Rafael - Luiz - Yobo - Mattock
Jolly - Zuculini - Paslaru
Walter
Saivet - Cristaldo

Mid-Season Update

Transfers
I have bought in Arturo Vidal and Alan Dzagoev to bolster up my midfield and Thiago alcantara has left after not being given enough games and Christinval has agreed to leave on a bosman. Deals for Ben Foster and Omar Benzerga have also been made, both arrive at the end of the season on a bosman.

Coca-Cola Championship
It has been a decent start to our life in the Premiership. We have managed to pick up 7 points from games against the 'big four' but have dropped points against smaller teams, we currently sit 12th after 21 games, winning 8, drawing 6 and losing 7. We have a -5 GD and have 30 points

Highlights
Home vs Man United 1-0
Away vs Everton 2-1
Away vs Liverpool 3-3
away vs Chelsea 2-1

Carling Cup
So far we look good to get really far in this cup. We opened up the competition with a 3-1 win over Norwich. We were then rewarded with a 3rd round tie against Sunderland. The game was close and it finished 0-0 aet. Fortunately tough we beat them 3-0 on penalties. The 4th rounds rolled on and Spurs were the opponents, we went a goal down in the 17th minute but within 10 minutes we were ahead 2-1 and went on to win the game. We welcomed our tie against Man City in the 1/4 finals and our optimism was rewarded as we walked away with a 3-0 win. 1st leg of he semi's we're down 3-1 to United but nothings impossible, a 3-0 win though will be very hard.

FA Cup
Manchester City were our opponents for the FA Cup 3rd round, they were poor all the way through notably though after an injury to their anchorman in midfield Nigel De jong, we went on to win the game 3-0. Dimitar Berbatov was sent off in the 71st minute. Fulham are our next opponents and i'm sure we can come away with a win.

Players
My squad has been fantastic thus far.
Saivet leads our scoring charts with 14 goals in 26 games, Cristaldo is 2nd with 8 in 13(3) and Walter is 3rd with 7 in 22.
Walter has also managed 7 assists playing in the AM role, wingers Paslaru and Jolly have both managed 4 each.

My starting 11
Asenjo
Rafael - Yobo - Luiz - Mattock
Jolly - Zuculini - Paslaru
Dzagoev
Saivet - Walter
